About Lucid Dreaming

I was about to write a post about lucid dreaming when I came across this blog post, which effectively did it for me. Go figure, right?

Regardless, you should check out that blog because it's pretty good stuff. I'll offer you the graphic included in the link, since it has a ton of useful information.

This pretty much covers it.

As the caption says, that graphic pretty much covers it.

My only contributions are from personal experience. Here are some of my reality checks:

  • Push two fingers against the palm of the opposite hand - results in reality and dreams tend to differ.
  • If there are light switches, flick them - generally nothing happens in dreams.
  • Push against a wall - sometimes, in dreams, your hand will go through.
  • Try pinching yourself hard - usually it does not hurt in dreams.

I like the nose/breathing idea, I might also incorporate that. The text and mirror examples are context sensitive, but good, though the mirror test can be frightening at times.

Alright, I have a ton to do in the morning, so thanks for reading and check out that blog!

  1. My friend turned me on to Lucid Dreaming and it's the trippiest thing evar... I love it. Also, something that I use to tell if in a dream is, try and remember how you got where you are now. The way the brain works, it spawns you in a dream doing something you're used to doing. Right in the middle of it.
So, just try and remember how you got where you are

  2. Very interesting, thanks for linking to that other blog. I have been interested in lucid dreaming for a while and have kept a dream diary for the last few months. The main problem that i have is that once I realise I am dreaming, usually as a result of a reality check but sometimes it just occurs to me "oh I'm dreaming right now". Anyway regardless of how I figure it out, within maybe 10-20 seconds of realising I am dreaming I tend to snap back to reality and find myself lying awake. Its kind of frustrating lol.

I really like the blog, following and supporting.

  3. Usually once I start to think I'm inside a dream I'll try to remember to pinch myself. After that I'll usually know for sure. If its a bad dream, ill try to shake my body as hard as I can and I usually wake up, if its a good dream though I'll see what I can get away with.

  14. This is something in which I am deeply interested. But I find that all the articles on them are insanely long, and I have to make time in advance to read them. I will be back to do so, I hope...

  22. Not really, lucid dreaming has never been really freaky for me. Sometimes it's weird, but usually it's just awesome - and sometimes very useful!
